Desiderius Erasmus 1466-1536

By the standards of his age, Desiderius Erasmus stood for moderation, reason and the pursuit of truth through diligent investigation. He believed that truth was more likely to emerge from a calm exchange of views than from insults or name-calling. The priest and humanist died on July 12th 1536
